- To make a Madonna using coloured clay -

To begin we prepare a form in polystyrene on wich we will build ..	then we apply a layer of clay at least 1 cm thick, to the polystyrene form	and we cover the form completely, fixing the joins well

we begin to give the body a fairly precise shape	add a belt made from a thin strip of clay	and then add the head, which is modelle previously using a light-coloured clay

we make some thin, cylinder shapes to form the hair, finishing with a tool	now we make an arm	then we make some small clay cylinder of various lengths to form the fingers

with a thin layer of the clay as that used for the clothes we make the sleeve	we attach the clothed arm to the model	and we repeat the operation for the other arm
a new layer of clay is made for the cloak	and a smaller layer of clay for the hood	and here's our finished Madonna made by Maestro Mario A. Giaretta
